NPC's New Focus: Evidence-Based Medicine
Despite a healthy stream of medical innovation that improves the care we can deliver to today's patients, Americans don't always get the quality health care they need. To make a positive impact on health care in the U.S., both in patient outcomes and cost effectiveness, NPC has announced a new focus on evidence-based medicine, or EBM. Our aim is to help inform the national debate on how to make reliable evidence the cornerstone of health care decisions in order to ensure the best patient outcomes and best value.
NPC's overarching mission has not changed. We continue to sponsor and conduct scientific analyses of the appropriate use of pharmaceuticals and the clinical and economic value of pharmaceutical innovation. Focusing on EBM simply highlights one of our core strengths—using balanced, fact-based research to develop the evidence that will help improve patient care. Working with other health care stakeholders and credible partners, we will help improve the knowledge base necessary to better health and more cost-effective care.
