Medicaid 101 - An Educational Program for State Legislators

This program is intended to help legislators and their staffs understand the history and mission of Medicaid, the drivers behind Medicaid budget growth (e.g., aged, blind, disabled; eligibility expansions) and the role that prescription drugs play in the budget. The program explains how barriers to care that delay effective treatment can add to long-term costs and reduce quality and examines a range of alternatives (along with their pros and cons) for managing drug expenditures.

(Videotaped on July 14, 2003, the web cast captures the presentation of this program to legislators in Utah.)
