National Pharmaceutical Council and Anthem Support Health Affairs in Launching New Council on Health Care Spending and Value

Health Affairs

With health care spending poised to reach 18 percent of U.S. GDP, the time has come to finally address the issue head-on. That’s why this past December, the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) launched a broader stakeholder initiative funding research and supporting a series of papers and blog posts in Health Affairs. It is in service of this broader mission that NPC, along with Anthem, Inc., is pleased to support the Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value, which will further advance the all-important health spending dialogue.

Over the next three years, the Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value will issue a series of publications and convene thought leaders with the goal of providing actionable recommendations for how legal, regulatory and policy changes can be used to tackle our nation’s health spending crisis.

In parallel to these efforts, NPC is working to engage new partners on Going Below the Surface to continually broaden the health spending discussion. Going Below the Surface is a research-first initiative aimed at examining the drivers of health care spending in a way that is focused on finding solutions rather than assigning blame. We’re looking forward to sharing more on these endeavors in coming months.
