Panel: Using Online Real-World Evidence Tools to Enhance Formulary Decision-Making
8 a.m.-9:30 a.m.

Evidence to determine comparative effectiveness and safety requires the use of real-world data (RWD) to create real-world evidence (RWE) that ultimately is used to inform policy decisions. Yet, there is a general lack of clarity about what constitutes RWE, and health care decision makers are seeking guidance as to how RWE can best be used to inform health technology (HTA) adoption decisions. Several frameworks and their accompanying online tools have recently been developed that provide guidance to users of RWE. Yet, no one standard tool has been adopted by payers.

This session will provide a concise definition of RWE, compare and contrast existing frameworks and tools using a checklist of desired attributes, and introduce a newly developed tool, all to provide comprehensive approaches to guide U.S. payers in making HTA adoption decisions.
