One result of this was a sharp drop-off in the number of clinical trials—the very stuff of future innovations for good health and life itself. AAD Issues Recommendations for Four New Therapies for Adult Atopic Dermatitis
(6/27, Jennifer Fisher, MMSc, PA-C, Medscape) reports “The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recently issued a focused update to its guidelines on the management of atopic dermatitis (AD) in adults, strongly recommending four recently approved therapies: tapinarof cream, roflumilast cream, lebrikizumab, and nemolizumab (in combination with topical therapy)...Despite the promising data, the authors acknowledged important limitations. Most trials were short-term (≤ 24 weeks), and the long-term safety, durability of response, and comparative effectiveness of these agents remain unknown.” Full
