About the Fellowship
The National Pharmaceutical Council: Policy-Relevant Research Since 1953
NPC serves patients and society with policy-relevant research on the value of patient access to innovative medicines and the importance of scientific advancement. We envision a world where advances in medicine are accessible to patients, valued by society, and sustainably reimbursed by payers to ensure continued innovation. We provide the evidence to bolster the case for the value of innovation through our policy-relevant research. NPC informs policy discussions in the media, in Congressional testimony, and through leading voices sharing our research about the future of innovative medicine and patient access.
The Rutgers-NPC Health Policy & Communications Fellowship builds on our decades-long history of creating future pharmaceutical industry leaders.
This fellowship is a unique opportunity for post-docs to learn the inner workings of a national health policy research organization, and become fluent in the language used by Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers to inform legislation, regulations, and private coverage policies.
The two-year program bridges the gap between research, policy analysis and communications, and exposes post-doctoral fellows to real-world health policy and public affairs issues that researchers typically don’t get elsewhere.
Fellows report to and are mentored by the President and CEO, and work closely with NPC’s senior leadership team, Board of Directors, and member company staff workgroups. Health policy and communications is the focus of the program, though the Fellow will gain invaluable skills in leadership as they participate in leadership meetings and help us execute against our strategic plan.
After completing their two-year fellowship, Fellows are highly qualified to join NPC or a similar organization as a health policy researcher or communicator, or join a pharmaceutical company in a health policy, market access, or strategic communications role.
This unique two-year fellowship is an opportunity for soon-to-be or recent PharmD graduates to be part of a best-in-class health policy research organization, learn how to communicate with impact and forge relationships with pharmaceutical industry thought leaders. We invite you to dream big, deliver impactful research, and drive better health policy as a Rutgers-NPC Health Policy & Communications Fellow.
