Anastrozole, Letrozole Produce Better OS, DFS Versus Exemestane for Postmenopausal, HR+ Early Breast Cancer
(1/14, Jen Smith, Cancer Therapy Advisor) reports “Study results support the use of anastrozole or letrozole as initial adjuvant endocrine therapy in patients with postmenopausal, hormone receptor (HR)-positive early breast cancer, researchers say. The team found evidence to suggest that adjuvant treatment with exemestane may result in slightly lower disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) than adjuvant treatment with anastrozole or letrozole.” Full
Nirsevimab Linked to Lower RSV Hospitalization Risk in Newborns
(1/14, Hibah Khaja, PharmD, Infectious Disease Advisor) reports “Passive infant immunization with nirsevimab yields a greater reduction in the risk for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-related hospitalization and severe outcomes compared with maternal RSV prefusion F protein (RSVpreF) vaccination, according to study results published in JAMA.” Full
Bariatric Surgery Reshapes Body Fat and Muscle More than GLP-1 Drugs
(1/14, Tarun Sai Lomte, News Medical) reports “In a recent study published in JAMA Network Open, researchers investigated changes in body composition following bariatric surgery or treatment with glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) using real-world electronic health record data...Together, GLP-1RA treatment and bariatric surgery were associated with substantial FM loss, modest FFM reductions, and improved FFM-to-FM ratio over 24 months. Bariatric surgery was associated with greater relative changes than GLP-1RA treatment, although the authors caution that the study was not designed as a direct comparative effectiveness analysis. Moreover, males exhibited better FFM preservation than females.” Full

Head-to-Head Real-World Data: Cadonilimab Outperforms PD-1 Inhibitors in First-Line PD-L1-Low Gastric Cancer
(1/13, Akeso, Inc. Press Release) “...The study results showed that the cadonilimab regimen, compared to the PD-1 monoclonal antibody regimen, significantly prolonged patients' overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Both OS (HR=0.49, P=0.025) and PFS (HR=0.43, P=0.006) demonstrated statistically significant improvements. The full study has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology.” Full
