Harnessing Patient-Centered CER To Improve Cardiovascular Health

As part of this effort, PCORI-funded studies and related projects explore a variety of approaches, including: Prevention and treatment of cardiovascular complications, including hypertension during pregnancy and postpartum. Prevention strategies, risk factor reduction and treatment approaches for cardiovascular conditions such as atherosclerotic disease, arrythmias, peripheral arterial disease and heart failure. So we’re saying that we want to rapidly expand both the Shared Savings Program, and we want the CMMI models to do the same,’ [Jacob Quinton, MD, MS, MPH, chief medical officer of original Medicare at CMS,] said. ‘Pricing accuracy is sort of getting our house in order, but we really want to expand our ACO program, and that’s how we think they’re going to be delivering high-quality care for the American people.’” Full
IRA Litigation: Pharma’s Failed Challenges To Medicare Drug Pricing
(3/13, Andrew Twinamatsiko, Sarah Wetter, Health Affairs Forefront) comments “...Despite uniform defeats in the lower courts, the pharmaceutical industry is nevertheless taking the fight to the Supreme Court...Despite the manufacturers’ rhetoric and amicus support, several factors suggest the Supreme Court is unlikely to take up these cases—at least not this term. First, there are no circuit splits yet. That could change as we await a decision from the Fifth Circuit in PhRMA’s challenge to the Medicare drug price negotiation program. Oral argument was held in October 2025, and a decision could come at any time. Without conflicting appellate decisions, the Court has less reason to intervene—and it does not seem eager to do so.” Full
