Doctors Push HHS to Show More Change on Prior Authorizations
(6/11, Ganny Belloni, Bloomberg Law) reports “...Nearly 4 out of 5 physicians surveyed by the AMA in 2025 reported patients abandoning treatment because of the prior authorization process, and over a quarter reported care delays that led to serious hospitalizations or even death. Only about a third of doctors surveyed by the AMA believed that insurers’ pledges would make a meaningful difference. ‘We believe that prior authorization processes desperately need meaningful reform,’ said ACP President Jan Carney. ‘We recommend that the administration continue to have real collaborations with physicians, clinicians, and patient advocacy groups.’” Subscription Required
First EU Joint Clinical Assessment Report Exposes Challenges in Generating Comparative Evidence
(6/11, Joanne Walker, Katie McCool, The Evidence Base) reports “...Professor Olaf Witt, Director of Translational Pediatric Oncology at the Hopp Children’s Cancer Center Heidelberg, described the constraints associated with evidence generation in this setting: ‘Randomized comparative studies… are often unfeasible due to limited patient availability, while withholding potentially beneficial therapy raises ethical concerns. (6/11, Bruce Liu, PharmExec) reports “...Across the pricing, access and reimbursement dimensions, RWE is becoming an increasingly important consideration in China. BeOne Showcases Landmark Phase 3 Data in CLL Patients Aged 80+ at EHA 2026, Reinforcing BRUKINSA Benefit
(6/11, BeOne Medicines Press Release) “...Amit Agarwal, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Medical Officer, Hematology, BeOne Medicines, said: ‘While the median age of diagnosis for CLL is 70 and the average age of treatment initiation is 75, many pivotal trials still underrepresent the patients that physicians most often see in practice. These data show that the durable benefit of BRUKINSA extends to patients in their 80s, including those with high-risk features. Just as importantly, the consistently low rates of atrial fibrillation observed with BRUKINSA across clinical trials and real-world evidence reinforce its favorable tolerability profile in an older population, providing important confidence in first-line treatment decisions and supporting its role as the foundational BTK inhibitor in CLL.’” Full
