Policy Roundtable: Changes to the 340B Drug Pricing Program

NPC Senior Director of Research Yevgeniy Feyman will moderate a policy roundtable on "Changes to the 340B Drug Pricing Program." NPC Senior Vice President of Research and Policy Kenneth Finegold, IQVIA’s Rory Martin, Neal Masia of Columbia University, and Sayeh Nikpay of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health will provide research-informed perspectives on recent or potential actions impacting the 340B Program.

Dr. Finegold will moderate a policy roundtable on “Pharmacy Benefit Management: Emerging Trends & Policy Outlook.” Kirsten Axelsen of DLA Piper, Luca Maini of Harvard Medical School, and T. Joseph Mattingly of the University of Utah will share insights on key components for meaningful PBM reform.

Spotlight Session: Being a Health Economist: Working In Government, Health Insurance and Health Plans, Pharmaceutical Companies, Consulting Firms and Think Tanks

NPC Chief Science Officer Jon Campbell will participate in a spotlight session on “Being a Health Economist: Working In Government, Health Insurance and Health Plans, Pharmaceutical Companies, Consulting Firms and Think Tanks.” Dr. Campbell will provide insights alongside Dilan Alpergin of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, JP Bruno of the University of Minnesota, Andrew Mulcahy of the RAND Corporation, Kamyar Nasseh of the American Dental Association, Frederic Selck of Secretariat International, Chapin White of the Congressional Budget Office, and moderator Deborah Freund of the University of California Los Angeles.

Session: Affordability: Temporality of Costs, ACA Markets, and Debt Relief

As part of a session on “Affordability: Temporality of Costs, ACA Markets, and Debt Relief,” Dr. Feyman will guide audience members through a conversation with presenting author Michal Horný of the University of Massachusetts Amherst about his work on “Temporal Concentration of Out-of-Pocket Costs and Affordability Challenges.”

Session: Management Matters: New Evidence from Hospitals and Nursing Homes

As part of a session on “Management Matters: New Evidence from Hospitals and Nursing Homes,” Dr. Feyman will lead a discussion  with presenting author Joseph Dov Bruch of the University of Chicago about his team’s research on “Changes in Finances, Operations, and Quality of Care After Management Consultant Use in Nonprofit Hospitals.”

Session: Part D Plan Sponsor Networks, Prices, and Access for Consumers

During a session on “Part D Plan Sponsor Networks, Prices, and Access for Consumers,” NPC will present findings from new research on the “Breadth of Medicare Part D Pharmacy Networks and Association with Plan-Level Factors, 2019-2025.” Presenting author Dr. Feyman and discussant Sayeh Nikpay of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health will explore how the data suggests that Part D plan sponsors may use their market power to restrict pharmacy networks, potentially harming beneficiaries.
