A New PCORnet® Population Insights Report Highlights the Capacity of the Network to Support Research on Obesity, Diabetes, and other Metabolic and Endocrine Conditions
(12/3, PCORnet Blog) comments “...A new PCORnet® Population Insights Report on patients with metabolic and endocrine conditions receiving health care services at clinical sites participating in PCORnet is now available. This report offers insights into the capacity of the network to support meaningful research on conditions that affect weight, growth, cholesterol, blood sugar, and more. The report offers a comprehensive overview of the demographics and geographic characteristics of more than 41 million adults and children who received healthcare services at clinical sites participating in PCORnet between January 1 and December 31, 2024. Patients were included in the report if they were routinely seeking care for given diagnoses. What to Expect from the EU HTA Regulation in 2026
(12/4, Joanne Walker, The Evidence Base) reports “...The EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation (EU HTAR (EU) 2021/2282), applicable since January 2025, has so far supported ten JCAs and seven joint scientific consultations (JSCs) as part of its inaugural implementation cycle...According to the report of the HTACG’s 17th meeting, members reviewed progress on ongoing medicinal product assessments and discussed refinements to assessment scope explanation meetings. The group also considered how to involve individual experts earlier in the process to strengthen the quality, transparency, and consistency of JCA development.” Full
Germany Does Not Expect US-UK Pharma Deal to Affect Drug Prices
(12/3, Reuters) reports “...Germany's health ministry does not expect a pharmaceutical deal between the United States and Britain to have any impact on drug prices in the Germany or on statutory health insurance expenditures, said a spokesperson in Berlin on Wednesday. ‘This is due to the existing legal regulations governing drug prices in Germany. These regulations are the 'overriding' ones, and therefore we don't expect any changes,’ he said.” Subscription Required
