(2/24, The Evidence Base) reports “...[ISPOR’s Dr Laura Pizzi (Chief Science Officer) and Dr Mitch Higashi (Associate Chief Science Officer):] As for value measurement, we continue to see interest from HTA, payers, and patient representatives on expanded value measures. The reality is that HEOR hasn’t done a great job at bringing expanded measures into our assessments; for example, despite there being established measures for productivity and caregiver impacts, those haven’t routinely been included in HEOR assessments for a number of reasons – lack of data, lack of relevance to the stakeholder making the decision, lack of relevance to the intervention being studied.” Full

 

Drugmakers Lay out Their Legal Arguments Against Trump’s Drug Pricing Experiments

(2/24, John Wilkerson, STAT+) reports “...Initially, the Medicare demonstrations would cover about a quarter of seniors, but they could be extended and applied to all Medicare beneficiaries after the pilot period expires...[PhRMA and BIO] say the demonstrations are unconstitutional for multiple reasons. For one, Congress didn’t pass a law creating the demonstrations, and the demonstrations don’t adhere to the law that allows for them. They also argue that the demonstrations violate the Constitution’s protections for patents by demanding lower prices on patented products before patents have expired.” Subscription Required 

 

UK: Joy as NICE Changes Tack on First NHS vitiligo Treatment
